Install and upgrade
Windows
Installer
Run Vibern-Setup-x64.exe. The default install path is:
C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Local\Programs\Vibern
Config and session data live in:
C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\Vibern
Uninstall from Settings → Apps. That leaves your config directory in place; delete the Roaming\Vibern folder above if you want a clean slate.
Portable build
Unzip Vibern-x64.zip anywhere and run Vibern.exe. The portable build keeps config in a data subfolder next to the executable and never touches the registry, which suits USB drives and managed machines.
Linux
AppImage
chmod +x Vibern-x86_64.AppImage
./Vibern-x86_64.AppImage
Install AppImageLauncher if you want it registered in your desktop menu.
deb package
sudo apt install ./vibern_amd64.deb
Config goes to ~/.config/vibern, session data to ~/.local/share/vibern.
Missing libraries
Minimal distributions sometimes lack the GUI libraries:
sudo apt install libgtk-3-0 libblkid1 liblzma5 libsecret-1-0
Upgrading
Vibern checks for updates on launch and shows a badge in the title bar. Click it to download and replace in place; config and sessions are preserved.
Portable and AppImage builds are not replaced automatically. Download the new package and overwrite it yourself.
Where your data lives
| Content | Windows | Linux |
|---|---|---|
| App config | %APPDATA%\Vibern\config.json | ~/.config/vibern/config.json |
| Session history | %APPDATA%\Vibern\sessions | ~/.local/share/vibern/sessions |
| Time machine snapshots | .vibern/snapshots in the project | same |
| Logs | %APPDATA%\Vibern\logs | ~/.local/share/vibern/logs |
Moving to a new machine? Copy the config directory across and you are back where you left off.
Snapshots live with the project. Add
.vibernto.gitignoreso they stay out of your commits.
